There once was a boy and one day he found a penguin at his door. They boy didn’t know where it had come from, but it began to follow him everywhere. The penguin looked sad and the boy thought the penguin must be lost and tried to return him. He checked in the Lost and Found office. But no one was missing a penguin. So the boy decided to take the penguin home himself, and they set out in his row boat on a journey to the South Pole. They rowed south for many days. The boy told the penguin lots of stories. They floated through good weather and bad weather. Finally they came to the South Pole. The boy was happy to send the penguin home.
But when they get there, the boy discovered that maybe home wasn't what the penguin was looking for after all...

The highlight of the book

This is a sweet story about kindness and selflessness. There are moments of humour and a very beautiful, tender ending. There are a lot of valuable lessons here, such as finding friends in unexpected places and the importance of helping others. The simple story and glowing pictures tells the tale of an unlikely friendship, once found, can never be lost.
